Argent - Argent
After leaving the famous band the āZombiesā, Rod Argent recruited bass player John Rodford, drummer Bob Henritt and guitarist Russ Ballard and called the quartet Argent. Under this name they released the eponymous debut album āArgentā in 1970. The song "Liar" became a hit and was covered by the American band Three Dog Night and became a year later an even bigger hit. āArgentā is a masterpiece, each of its 10 tracks a slice of virtuosic musicianship, impassioned singing and songwriting from Russ Ballard and Rod Argent, that displays wide emotional and musical range. Each song is a perfectly constructed gem, just different enough that they have their own character yet a cohesive entity.
