Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Long After Dark
2LP - 180g Black Vinyl. Expanded and remastered edition including "You Got Lucky", "Change Of Heart" and "Straight into Darkness" + 12 re-discovered tracks including 7 previously unreleased featuring "Never Be You". Tom Petty And The Heartbreakersâ 1982 album Long After Dark is getting a deluxe edition. On October 18, a new version of the album will be released, featuring all the classic songs from the original, along with 12 additional onesâincluding seven that have never been released before. âThere was some music recorded for Long After Dark that didnât get on the record, that I thought wouldâve made it a better album,â Tom Petty once said. âI left offâŠfour things that I liked quite a bit. And probably a few more written that never even got in the door.â Producer Jimmy Iovine, who concluded his three-album collaboration with the band on this album, spoke so highly as to compare it to Bob Dylan: âLong After Dark, we thought we had it. Sounded like Positively Fourth Street, sounded like one of those records, you know. By the way, I think it is!â. Though Long After Dark came at The Heartbreakersâ peak in popularity, the album remains something of an overlooked piece of the bandâs history. While those original songs are still there to revisit, the additional tracks of the deluxe edition aim to give a fuller picture of the groupâs creative process. The album includes a rendition of âNever Be You,â a song that was a hit for Roseanne Cash; âDonât Make Me Walk The Line,â one of the bandâs poppier outings; and âWays To Be Wicked,â recorded in Denver at Applewood Studios.
